Dylan James Amick is a Virginia native writer, director, and storyteller based out of New York. The middle child of five, Dylan's stories focus on loneliness, careerism, and the absurdity of existence.
A production design student at Virginia Tech, Dylan began his career working regularly lighting and video designer and technician with companies like Berkshire Theatre Group, The Juilliard School, The Public and more. He was the associate artistic director of Critical Point Theatre from 2013-2018 where his work was featured in in The New York Frigid Festival and Capital Fringe. As a director Dylan has directed his own short film projects (Staying with Us – Dec 2018) and theatrical premieres of Jerk of the Stimulation of Self (The Hive) and Jamie & Duncan’s Glorious Suicide at the End of the World (DC Fringe Festival). Dylan’s first play PHFreaking, was a collaboration with Julia Katz that was featured in pieces at The Fool’s Furry Furry Factor Festival and the Dixon Place reading series. His work as the show runner and co-writer of The Grayscale Podcast has been recognized by The Audioverse Awards and The Rod Serling foundation for excellence in audio storytelling.
Dylan is currently promoting a web series he co-wrote (En Route), submitting his first film to festivals (Staying With Us), and gearing up to produce another short film (Clean Cut). He is also learning Spanish and writing daily.
